Yoga, a system where breath and movement are connected.

As Krishnamacharya said, yoga should be adapted to suit the individual, and not the other way around. This shala welcomes people of all backgrounds and abilities to find a space to know your body and breath, and move deeper into your own self.

I am teaching at Rozelle School of Visual Arts – 57 Nelson st Rozelle.

Please bring:

  • A yoga mat
  • Wear comfortable clothing
  • Tie up your hair if it’s long
  • Bring a towel, as you’re likely to sweat (maybe a lot!)
  • Leave your shoes at the door outside
  • Phones off and away from the practice space
  • An open mind, a willingness to learn and the ability to be honest with your teacher
  • Ladies, please take rest from practice during the first 3 days of your menstrual cycle.

Yoga Teacher Brisbane

I’m Mani, your teacher at the shala. My mother introduced me to a simple asana practice as a child. Through the years, I came and went away from a yoga practice, though it was as if an invisible thread had tied me to the practice, and when I strayed too far, I would be pulled back to experience the sweet union with my own true self.I was never one to be attracted purely by the physical, and through yoga I found an inner connection by being responsible for the way I moved my body and connected with my breath.

Through  yoga I felt challenged, exhilarated, excited to practice, humbled and grateful, and this has been the path I’ve been on for the last 14 years. During this time I have been travelling to Mysore, India to practice under Paramguru Sharath Jois, (, the lineage holder of the Ashtanga yoga tradition, who has dedicated his life to the authentic transmission of this practice. In 2022, I was given Guruji’s blessing to teach.

Contrary to what people may think, yoga has been my companion through injury, illness, pregnancy and recovery, it is a practice for all that come to it with an open heart.

For 10 years, I have studied under Eileen Hall, a great yogi. In this time I was fortunate to spend 2 years as her assistant and learnt much about the art of yoga. I have also attended workshops and studied with the following teachers, amongst others:  Sharmila Desai, Dena Kingsberg, Richard Freeman, Danny Paradise, Kino McGregor, David Swenson & Mark Robberds.
