Ashtanga Yoga Sydney

Ashtanga vinyasa yoga, a system of yoga where breath and movement are connected.

The traditional method of practise is 5 days a week self practice, known as Mysore style, and 1 day a week practice led by the teachers count.

There is much literature available on Ashtanga yoga, but none can surpass the knowledge gained through experience. The practice begins outwardly through this physical body, but with attention on the breath, very soon the practitioner moves beyond the physical.

This is an experiential path, which can only be known through your own experience of it.

Ashtanga Method

Mysore Style

The way Ashtanga yoga is traditionally practiced, moving to a set series of postures with your own breath. The teacher keeps a watchful gaze and provides instruction where needed.

We all breathe at a different pace, hence the reason a Mysore style practice is so important.

Do not be daunted by this concept, you will be guided and supported at every step.

Led Practice

Once a week to the teachers count, this class sets up the foundation for the week ahead of self practice or Mysore style

You’ll need

A yoga mat

Wear comfortable clothing

Tie up your hair if it’s long

Bring a towel, as you’re likely to sweat (maybe a lot!)
